Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s everything you need to know about how Learn Spanish works - and why our blend of human teaching and Learning Intelligence technology helps students progress faster and with more confidence.

What kinds of Spanish lessons do you offer?

We specialise in online, one-to-one Spanish lessons taught by qualified, native speakers.

Each lesson is personalised to your level, objectives, and learning style - whether you’re learning for travel, work, exams (GCSE, A-Level, DELE), or pure enjoyment.

We also offer Spanish for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners. Small-group and family lessons are available on request.

Can I learn Spanish online - and is it really as effective as in-person classes?

Yes - and usually more effective.

Online lessons give you the same personal interaction as face-to-face classes, with added flexibility, comfort, and global reach.

You can learn from home, the office, or while travelling, without needing to commute or host teachers.

Modern video tools such as Zoom make lessons highly interactive - with audio-visual explanations, chat for written practice, and shared notes for feedback.

Our tutors are trained to use this environment to its fullest, keeping lessons warm, dynamic, and truly conversational.

Learn more about why online learning works.

Who are your tutors?

All our teachers are:

  • Native Spanish speakers from Spain or Latin America.

  • Fully qualified, holding recognised ELE (Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language) or DELE (where appropriate) certifications.

  • Experienced professionals with a vocation, not hobbyists - many have university degrees in Spanish, linguistics, or education.

  • Personally interviewed by our Learning Director, who oversees curriculum quality, teaching style, and personal fit.

Because we work online, we can recruit the best teachers globally, not just those who happen to live nearby.

Do you follow a structured curriculum?

We have options.

Our default curriculum is Aula Internacional, the professional curriculum from Campus Difusión, trusted by universities and the Instituto Cervantes.

It’s aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which defines internationally recognised levels from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Advanced).

For those specifically targeting GCSEs, A-Levels or DELE, we will work to specific, personalised plans toward exam success - taking into account the student’s strengths and weaknesses and the specific exam board.

We also offer less structured, conversation-based lessons for those who would like to activate and develop their spoken Spanish.

Whatever the format, we focus on progress toward your individual goals.

What makes Learn Spanish different from other platforms or apps?

We combine high quality Spanish teaching with tailored planning and measurable progress. Our tutors go through a rigorous interview process before joining the team. Our Learning Director works closely with them on an on-going basis, monitoring student progress and ensuring the best possible outcomes.

All students receive detailed feedback to ensure they are on track, and we keep the plan flexible to account for course-correction along the way. If you opt to use it, our proprietary Learning Intelligence system analyses lessons, using pattern and phrase-level analysis to enhance your learning If you prefer traditional teaching without this technology, that’s absolutely fine - you can add or remove this feature as you wish.

What is the CEFR?

The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is the global benchmark for language proficiency.

It divides ability into six levels - A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 - covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

We can use the CEFR standards to assess your level, and measure your progress. Each CEFR level has an associated exam. Some of our students take these exams to establish their credentials, some don’t. If you do take the exams, we structure lessons specifically around exam prep.

What technology do I need for online lessons?

All you need for online lessons is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and reliable internet connection.

We use Zoom (or similar) for live video and chat, which allows for:

  • Clear audio-visual interaction.

  • Screen sharing for explanations and exercises.

  • Chat for written practice and corrections.

  • Easy sharing of homework, notes, and materials.

If you ever need help setting up, we’ll guide you step-by-step. Most students are up and running in minutes.

How long are the lessons and how often should I take them?

Most students choose:

  • 60-minute sessions - the standard format for steady progress.

  • 90-minute sessions - for intensive learning or exam preparation.

We’ll recommend a schedule based on your goals and availability. You can learn entirely at your own pace. We will advise you of course as to what we think it will take to achieve your goals but the decision is entirely yours.

How much do Spanish lessons cost?

Prices depend on lesson length and package type. See our pricing page for more detail.

We’ll confirm your rate after understanding your needs and matching you with the right teacher.

Discounts are available for block bookings, and we offer a free introductory session to discuss your learning before you commit.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

We understand that sometimes life throws up the unexpected. You can book your lessons for whenever suits you and if for some reason you can’t attend one, you can reschedule so long as you give us at least 24 hours’ notice.

Can children learn with you?

Yes. Many of our teachers specialise in Spanish for children and teenagers.

Lessons are interactive, fun, and adapted to the learner’s age, attention span, and goals - from early exposure to school-level exams.

All tutors are fully vetted and DBS-checked where required.

Do you do group lessons?

We focus on one-to-one lessons as we believe this is the only way to get the full support that learning Spanish requires if you want to have the best chance of progressing. That said, if you want to learn in a group, we offer this option too. Contact us for details, and we will advise as to whether we can help.

Do you do face-to-face lessons?

We focus on online lessons, via video call, since this gives our students more flexibility and means that we can find them the best tutor from our global team.

How do I get started?

  1. Get in touch using our contact form.

  2. We’ll ask a few questions about your goals, current level, and availability.

  3. We’ll match you with the perfect tutor.

  4. You’ll meet them in a free introductory session - no obligation, the session is to understand out teaching and how to get the most from your lessons.

  5. If it feels right, lessons begin

In summary

Learn Spanish combines native, qualified teachers, CEFR-aligned curriculum (or personalised GCSE, A-Level or DELE plans) and optional Learning Intelligence analysis to deliver structured, flexible, and personalised online Spanish lessons - and, most importantly, results.

It’s the most efficient way to learn Spanish seriously - combining the human warmth of expert tutors with the precision of intelligent technology.
