Since everything we do at Learn Spanish is entirely focused on student outcomes, we only work with the very best, native teachers. In the first place, they must be fully qualified and have all of the relevant experience. They then undergo a rigorous selection process, overseen by our Learning Director.
This ensures that we only work with the highest calibre of professionals: tutors who see Spanish tutoring as a vocation, not just a profession.
Furthermore, their approach must be student-centric: focused on the student as an individual, and their success.
Centred on student objectives
In practice, this means that they take a consultative approach from the beginning. The first step in our process is to understand the student and their objectives. They might be learning Spanish for fun or for travel; they might want to learn for to further their career; they might be preparing for exams. Some students want to work on a particular element of Spanish, be it oral expression, listening comprehension, reading comprehension or writing. Each student is unique and our tutors are experts at working with them accordingly.
Understanding of student level and learning style
We work with students of all levels. For those with some Spanish, the tutor will begin by assessing the student’s current levels across the different elements of the Spanish language. Lessons will be planned accordingly. As the student develops, the plan will be adjusted continually to ensure that he or she gets the most out of every minute they spend learning.
Students also differ in terms of how they learn. Some like a high degree of interactivity, some are happy (and have the time) to put hours of homework in between lessons, some like to include cultural learning. Our tutors will work with any type of learning style and preference, while ensuring that they challenge the student appropriately.
Motivation and feedback
With a detailed knowledge of a student’s objectives and personal characteristics, our tutors work hard to give feedback as to progress against goals, and to direct lessons according to what will produce the best results. They prepare each lesson carefully for each individual and, afterwards, give guidance to the student with regards areas that would benefit from focus, while, of course, celebrating wins and breakthroughs.
Those students who like another level of analysis opt to use our Learning Intelligence system. This assesses student level and progress in a detailed, formal format which some find boost their progress even further. This option can be switched on and off according to student requirement.
Hand-matched according to student profile
Before the first class, we offer our students a free consultation session. The purpose is to ensure that we match students with the right teacher and that they can jointly produce a learning plan. This will take into account, amongst other things, objectives, level, learning style, availability, and profile to ensure the best outcomes possible.
Ongoing support and progress tracking
As well as the personal attention our tutors provide, we assess progress more generally. Our Learning Director oversees student success and is on hand to guide and enhance the learning experience.
